A Chiropodist is a health care professional who provides a comprehensive treatment of the foot and gives advice about footcare, footwear and exercises.
How often do you think about your feet? If you are like most people, only when they hurt.
Foot ailments are commonly cited as one of the most prevalent physical complaints particularly in the elderly. Often feet are overlooked in a general assessment and even when a problem is noted, the individual may not know where to turn for effective remedial therapy.
Podiatry

Podiatrists are specialists who diagnose and treat biomechanical problems affecting the lower limb including the foot.
Sadly, one of the most commonly occurring podiatric problems called excess pronation is still not being recognised and treated in children. Currently over 50% of the population are estimated to suffer from this problem.
It does not just affect the feet but the entire body posture is affected - including the lower back.
During a 40-minute assessment, the Podiatrist thoroughly examines feet and legs, taking each joint in turn. Patients are also observed when walking and standing. After the examination the Podiatrist may prescribe corrective shoe inserts. The technical name for these is Orthotics.
Reflexology

Reflexology is a very safe and effective way of helping the body to heal itself.
It is a particular form of massage in which the therapist works with fingers and thumbs on reflex areas found in the feet.
Since each of these reflex areas corresond to a distinct part of the body, it is possible to treat specific areas.
As well as being an effective means of maintaining overall good health and preventing illness, reflexology is a potent remedy for the following:
- Digestive disorder - e.g. Irritable Bowel Syndrome, constipation
- Depression and anxiety
- M.E.
- Headaches and migraine
- Hormonal disorders - e.g. menstrual problems, menopause, thyroid imbalances
- Pregnancy related conditions - e.g. back pain, fluid retention, constipation

Sports & Remedial Massage Therapy, S.C.E.N.A.R. Therapy
David Brown - MSMA LSSM Dip REP
Sports Massage
Involves the application of techniques that work at a deeper level than general therapeutic massage. It is used for the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of the body's soft tissues which include muscles, tendons and ligaments.
In addition to the general benefits of massage such as stimulation of the body's circulatory, lymphatic and nervous systems, it can provide pain relief, release muscular tension and spasm plus assist to reduce stress levels. It can be used to increase muscle length, assist in the removal of metabolic waste, increase or decrease muscle tone and assist in the mental preparation for sporting events.
Remedial Massage
Employs advanced massage techniques to treat muskuloskeletal conditions and muscular dysfunctions caused not only from injury but also those that are present as a symptom or result of some other physiological condition.
S.C.E.N.A.R. Therapy
Uses a pioneering device invented by Russian scientists for use in the space programme by cosmonauts. It is a holistic form of treatment that stimulates the nervous system and teaches the body to heal itself.
Electrical impulses, similar to nervous impulses produced by the body are transmitted through the skin to the nervous system. Fast-reacting informational biofeedback means that each impulse is different from the previous one, generating a flow of information that the body uses to stimulate the release of bioactive substances known as "neuro-peptides" enabling rapidly improved restoration of affected functions.
David Brown is registered as a practitioner with the Sports Massage Association and International SCENAR Technology Association
